Happy Halloween

The Best Halloween!

Lance, Kamryn, Halli, Zack and I all agree---this Halloween was the best ever! We spent it with grandparents, and cousins. My kids thought it was the greatest thing to go trick or treating with their cousins in their neighborhood. There were so many decked out houses, "the best candy," and we were with lots of family. We had such a fun night. Thanks family!
The kids didn't have school on Halloween, so their parties were Thursday at school. They each had a great time and got too much junk to eat. Then they were ready the next day for more fun and more junk. I copied my sister in law's idea of letting the kids just eat their candy til it's gone instead of letting them have a little at a time. Well, Zack's is almost gone. He has enjoyed the lack of restrictions on when he can eat candy---he only has to wait til after breakfast and can't eat candy right before dinner. The rest of the time is fair game. Our candy addicted guy loved it and still does, although the excitement has died down a little. He still looks at me to make sure he seriously can eat it freely though. Kam and Halli still have full bags of candy compared to Zack's handful of candy. I do have to say though, that my little boy who doesn't care to share usually, has shared as much candy as he has eaten himself. The trash can has enjoyed a little itself too. Lance's favorite holiday is Halloween, so he is already mourning Pete the Pirate who was on our lawn with a glowing heart. We will all soon recover from the excitement of Halloween.

I'm Alive Again!

So, I copied my one and only entry from my blog I started in June (well, my blog expert did), but we didn't know how to flip it, so my first two entries are backwards from how they should be. Anyway, I am so excited to be writing again. The last 5 months were rough and my children and husband were truly amazing. I found out I was pregnant the day after my first blog entry. Within days I was going down hill. Within a couple weeks, I was on IVs with a PICC line in my arm to give me medication, vitamins, and fluid to keep me and the baby alive. Through these horrible months, I realized even more how amazing my husband is and how extraordinary my children are. Kamryn and Halli did dishes, fed themselves and Zack, cleaned, and so much more. I was also reminded how awesome my sister in law is--she would take Zack for many hours at a time--, how blessed I am to have the best Mom in the world who dropped everything and came to take care of us for a month, and how great my ward and friends here are. I am so grateful for my health. Now, I am 27 weeks and on the better side of this pregnancy. We are so excited and grateful for this little baby we were starting to believe wasn't going to come. Now we are expecting a boy in January! We have had some great suggestions for names--our good friends' 5 year old girl and 3 year old boy have suggested Lightning McQueen or just Lightning or Just McQueen. Zack suggested Bob the Builder a couple months ago, which doesn't make sense to me since he watched an episode once 2 years ago. Lance has added several names to his list and Kamryn and Halli just roll their eyes. They are a little concerned that their Dad is in on the naming of their little brother. So, if anyone has suggestions, we will take them, even if they are cartoon names!

Summer Is Here

I have been contemplating starting a blog for a long time. The biggest perk I saw was having some sort of journal to look back on since I don't write in one. My sisters-in-law have blogs and I absolutely love reading them. So, here I am, the last day of school, realizing I really wish I had recorded so many of the fun memories of this past school year. Kamryn just finished third grade, Halli finished 2nd, and Zack graduated preschool a couple weeks ago. It seems just last year that Kamryn was in preschool and I was juggling Halli and Zack as I walked Kam in and out of her little school, thinking how big and grown up she seemed. The highlights of the end of school for the kids were the following: Zack got an award for being the class friend. His teacher explained that he was a good friend to everyone and that each child in the class wanted to sit by "Zack Attack" at snack time, circle time, and any other time. Halli was in a 2nd grade spelling bee with 70 students this week and won the entire thing. Her winning word was "invasion." Kamryn and Halli danced in a school talent show and did amazing. They clogged to "Everybody Dance Now." Kamryn finished a year of being a top reader and an unofficial tutor for the students in her class.
